 Introduction to photography with

   Compact & SLR Digital Cameras  £25

   This course will explain:  

What is an SLR, Q&A on camera buttons, elements of a good photograph?

Camera shooting modes, introduction to aperture & depth of field

Aperture priority introduction to shutter speed priority, introduction to ISO.

Introduction to Manual exposure, the exposure metre.

Histograms, metering modes, Auto Exposure Lock

Depth of field, focal Length, flash photography, tips for sports photography

Rule of thirds, composition, Viewpoint & light

Introduction to studio lighting,

Introduction to Photoshop Elements or CS4-CS3

Review session, Q & A, practical assignments

      We will then go out locally to practice photographic techniques.

Please bring your own Digital Compact or SLR Camera. 

 Please make sure your batteries are fully charged

 and that you have plenty of space left on your memory card.

Studio Courses

 

Studio lighting Course

 

This introduction to studio flash lighting will take participants

 through high-key and low-key lighting set-ups

introduce participants to three-point lighting with the key light, fill light and effect light,

 Show participants how to light the background

 and how to separate the subject from the background.

The workshop uses a variety of light shapers from beauty dishes to Fresnel spots to illustrate different lighting effects.

Induction to Photoshop techniques e.g. Black & White, soft focus & removal of marks,

 Cutting out And replacing backgrounds

  • Save files
  • Crop images
  • Adjust Levels
  • Adjust Brightness and Contrast
  • Adjust Hue and Saturation
  • Use the Clone and Heal tools
  • Use the Smart Fix tool
  • Save your images
  • Print your images

 Please bring your own images on a USB memory stick.  Your finished image will be printed to a very high quality and presented in a frame mount.

 Tea and biscuits are included.

 This course lasts approximately 6 hours.

 This course will show you how to:

 Save files

  • Use the History tool
  • Use Layers
  • Crop Images
  • Adjust Levels
  • Adjust Hue and Saturation
  • Correct a Colour Caste
  • Use the Dodge and Burn tool
  • Use the Gradient tool
  • Use the Clone and Heal tool
  • Convert images to Black and White
  • Save your Images
  • Print your Images

Please bring your own images on a USB memory stick.  Your finished image will be printed to a very high quality and presented in a frame mount.

 Tea and biscuits are included.

This course lasts approximately 6 hours.

Photoshop CS4 or Elements Advanced £50

 

This course will show you how to:

 

  • Use RAW files
  • Sharpen and Soften
  • Use Advanced Colour Enhancements
  • Sepia Tone
  • Use Highlights and Shadows
  • Use the Extractor tool

Please bring your own RAW files on a USB memory stick. 

Your finished image will be printed to a very high quality

and presented in a frame mount.

Lunch is included.  Please let us know of any dietary requirements.
